Congratulations to our newly crowned Miss South Pacific 2007

The different cultures & traditions of the South Pacific were on full display at Apia for the Miss South Pacific 2007 Pageant. Eight Island Countries of the South Pacific were represented as the beautiful contestants showcased traditionally inspired attires, dances and song. The event was a spectacular display of personal attributes, leadership skills and grace under pressure as each contestant showed off their own unique cultural identity and beauty of our pacific people. It has truly been a memorable occasion not only for the contestants but also for all the supporters who helped cheer on each of the beautiful contestants.

We would like to thank the CEO of Samoa Tourism Sonya Hunter, Christina Leala and the organizing committee of the Miss South Pacific 2007 for granting us access to all events of this years pageant and for your patience. This year's pageant was a great success due to the tireless efforts of the committee. Malo lava!

To this year's contestants, thank you for your efforts. You beautiful ladies truly are the personification of the South Pacific and should be commended highly in how you each represented your country.

We would like to congratulate this year's Miss South Pacific. You are the epitome of what the South Pacific represents and wish you the best for your reign.

Pre-Pageant Interviews (Fri 16th Nov 1pm)
The Miss South Pacific 2007 Pageant  officially started today at the Aggie Grey's Conference Room in Apia with the judging of the Pre-Pageant Interviews.

The event saw the contestants convey their personal message of "Strong Islands, Strong Future" through presentation which was adjudicated by a panel of judges.

Pageant Floral Parade (Thur 15th Nov 3pm)

Apia was buzzing with excitement as the beautiful ladies of the Miss South Pacific 2007 pageant graced Beach Road on traditionally decorated floats.

The floral parade also brought back past winners which included MSP 1996 Verona Lovel Tapu Ah Ching, MSP 1997  Maryjane Moe McKibbin, MSP  2001Manamea Apelu and MSP 2005 Dorothea George.

Pageant Rehearsal (Wed 14th Nov 3pm)

Pictured below are the miss south pacific contestants hard at work during their rehearsal at the EFKS hall mulinuu, Apia Samoa.

 

The opening number is choreographed by Former Miss Samoa Poinsettia Taefu(2006-2007) while the the rest of the contestants' performance is choreographed by current Miss South Pacific, Krystina Kauvai of the Cook Islands. The dance numbers will follow this year's theme of "Strong Islands, Strong Future" and have dance samples of different cultures of our beautiful South Pacific.

The Miss South Pacific Pageant is an international event devoted to showcasing the talents and physical attributes of the contemporary pacific lady, synonymous with the beauty and the friendliness of the people of the Pacific.

Miss South Pacific 2006-2007By nurturing personal attributes, leadership skills and grace under pressure, the event aids positive personal development and encourages pacific women to contribute to national and regional affairs and to advance in diverse fields. As a prospective ambassador for the pacific, each contestant must bring to the event the essence of their respective pacific people and culture.

The event helps to foster tourism and cultural promotion. In that unique capacity it serves to showcase the cultural identity and beauty of our pacific people with the objective of promoting to the international arena this wonderful region of ours, the Pacific Islands!
